Did you know that you should have an Annual Wellness Exam every year? Although guidelines have changed for how often women get pap smears for cancer screening, it is still recommended you have your annual exam. Why do you need an exam? Your annual exam is designed for you to review the past year with your provider. Things can change in one year like: sleep patterns, hormones, sexual libido, hair loss, depression/anxiety and many other concerns. Also, your annual exam is required to renew any current medications that were prescribed the previous year. You have a lifetime ahead of you, don't ignore your health!
As per recommendation of the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) women ages 30-65 need a pap smear every 5 years. No pap is required prior to 21 years of age. Between the ages of 21-30, Cytology is recommended every 3 years. If your pap smear comes back abnormal, a Colposcopy or Cryo surgery may be required. Dr. Lehman will always thoroughly review any abnormal pap smears with his patient and review options for therapy. Colposcopy and Cryo are performed in the office.
Your peace of mind is important to us. If you feel you have been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease, we can test you in the office and results take just a few days to get back. While it is recommended, a pelvic exam isn't always required.
No matter if you had children vaginally or by C-Section, eventually most women struggle with urinary incontinence. It can control your life. But it doesn't have to be that way. Dr. Lehman can recommend many options to assist with urinary incontinence including surgery, pessary maintenance and in office vaginal rejuvenation. Ask about FormaV!
